In feud with Trump, Hogan won’t back Cox’s gubernatorial bid in general election

BALTIMORE — Del. Dan Cox may well have won the GOP nomination in the Maryland governor’s race, but appear November he will not have the help of the male he hopes to realize success.

But though Cox emerged victorious, capturing 56% of the vote in comparison to 40% for Schulz with 80% of ballots counted, Hogan’s vote is 1 he can’t count on in the typical election.

“Trump shed Republicans the White Household, the Residence, and the Senate. He is selfishly colluded with nationwide Democrats to expense us a Governor’s seat in Maryland in which I ran 45 details in advance of him,” the governor tweeted. “He’s fighting for his ego. We are combating to acquire.”

Hogan’s workplace informed WJZ that the governor, who has been the subject of Cox’s criticism and litigation, will not be voting for the GOP nominee in the November common election. The governor’s place of work did not say for whom Hogan would vote.

He thinks minimal turnout gave Cox the edge.

“If you look at the variety of people today who voted as opposed to 4 several years in the past, it is a 50,000 voter drop. …I suspect a whole lot of that is Republicans who made a decision to remain household,” he mentioned. “They made a decision to remain household due to the fact they felt they did not have a candidate they were enthusiastic about. But 1 team of voters is quite enthusiastic, they are the voters who make up Trump’s base.”

The Hogan administration has been important of Cox, with spokesperson Michael Ricci contacting Cox as a “QAnon conspiracy theorist.”
