The Callisto Protocol follows in the footsteps of Dead Space and offers players various amazing weapons that they can use. Over the course of the game, you will come across weapons that serve their purpose. However, which ones are worth keeping? That is why this guide will show you the best weapons in The Callisto Protocol so that you know which one to keep in your inventory.
The best weapon in The Callisto Protocol is the Skunk Gun followed by the Riot Gun. The Hand Cannon and Stun Baton are also good choices during the early-mid stages of the game.
If you want to know what all the weapons are and which chapters you can find them in, continue reading to find out. With that said, let’s dive right in and get started with the best weapons in The Callisto Protocol.
The Callisto Protocol: All Weapons RANKED
There are a total of six weapons in The Callisto Protocol. While it can be a bit disappointing for most players to have so few weapons, all of them are quite fun to use. Also, since the game does not have a large playtime, having more weapons than this might overwhelm the player.
So, check out which weapons are worth keeping and which ones to avoid down below!
Starting off with the best weapon in the game, the Skunk Gun. It is a shotgun that can be found in the Aftermath chapter. It is the first optional weapon you can find, so make sure that you look around the map to find more optional weapons.
This weapon is superb at short range, thanks to its insane damage. Surprisingly, the recoil control is also quite nice, considering it is a shotgun. However, you will notice that the magazine capacity is quite less and you will have to reload often.
To counter that problem, make sure that you get the High Capacity Magazine Upgrade. On top of that, you should also get the stability upgrade to lessen the recoil further. Plus, you can even get the Swarming Rounds upgrade to alt-fire homing bullets, which are pretty nice.
The Riot Gun is easily one of the best weapons in the game. It can be found during the Lost chapter, and it deals an insane amount of damage. This weapon is essentially a pump-action shotgun that can easily take down any enemy you are facing.
The best part is that the ammo capacity is quite nice, and its alt-fire is capable of killing every enemy in one shot (except the bosses, of course). Apart from this, the stability is surprisingly quite nice, and you won’t notice a massive recoil at all.
The only reason why it isn’t placed higher than the Skunk Gun is that the aforementioned doesn’t require a lot of investment to make it better. The Riot Gun is a great weapon, but it does need to be upgraded a few times to truly reach its potential.
The Hand Cannon is a great weapon that is extremely fun to use. It is automatically obtained during the Outbreak chapter and is the first ranged weapon you’ll have access to. The damage is quite decent, but the main thing is its alternate fire.
If you use its alt-fire, you can easily take out early to mid-game enemies with a single shot! However, if you are not careful, you can easily waste all the bullets and end up with nothing. So, make sure that you keep track of your ammo and use the Stun Baton where necessary.
If you want to use it in the later stages, make sure that you upgrade its magazine capacity, damage, and get the explosive rounds.
The Stun Baton is the only melee weapon that you get in The Callisto Protocol, and it is awesome! You will find it automatically at the start of the game in the Outbreak chapter. Since this is your only melee weapon, you do not need any ammo to use it. The Stun Baton is great at staggering foes while you save up on your ammo.
It is exceptional during the early and mid-game. So, I suggest that you use it to take down most enemies in those stages. However, it requires a lot of investment to make it worthwhile. While it is a great alternative to saving ammo, you need to spend a lot of points to make it relevant in the later stages.
At that point, it is better to use your weapons and finish off any enemy that you might face. Plus, you might accidentally take a lot of damage while fighting with the Stun Baton if you do not dodge on time or are not careful.
I expected the Assault Rifle to be one of my favorite weapons in the game, but that wasn’t the case. You find it almost at the end of the game, and it is the final weapon that you can get. Since this is the final gun you get, it has to be superb, right? Well, unfortunately, it isn’t that good.
The Assault Rifle looks – and feels – great, thanks to its swift fire rate and decent damage. Plus, it can be used to stop transformations reliably, which is a great thing to have in your arsenal. However, this weapon isn’t the best against groups that you will be facing during the end game.
Finally, let’s talk about the Tactical Pistol. It is found during the late game in the Below chapter. This weapon has a high rate of fire but mediocre damage. Considering that it is a late-game weapon, it is not worth completing its schematic. If you do, you will end up replacing item drops with the ammo of the Tactical Pistol.
This can potentially take away the chances of getting ammo for better weapons like the Riot Gun or the Skunk Gun. So, if you want to try out this gun, go right ahead, but it is not worth picking up at all.
Conclusion
Those are the best weapons in The Callisto Protocol. While it is a bit of a letdown that there are only 6 weapons in the game, all of them are quite fun to use. Maybe the devs will add new weapons to the game in future updates.
