Morris Illinois Lions Club Orphan Car Show Photo Coverage Starts Here
(Words and Photos by Jim Hrody)
Each October, the Morris (Illinois) Lions Club puts on a huge swap meet & car show event over the course of a weekend as their main fundraiser.
There’s a recently new feature, just in its second year, which is their Orphan Car Show taking place on the Saturday portion of the weekend.
Not only is it open to defunct automotive marques, but also discontinued model names. I’d estimate at least 150 cars and trucks were on hand between the show field and car corral.
As expected, it was relatively heavy on Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles and AMC’s, which is never a bad thing. Another point of note— There were four early generation Chevy Cavaliers in attendance.
When was the last trime you saw one of those on the road let alone that many in the same zip code? Of course, everything was rounded out with a bunch of other random dead brands and nameplates you can no longer buy new.
