Adaptive fitness gym announces grand opening in Surprise

PHOENIX– A new adaptive gym aiming to provide individual and group fitness training to the community of older adults and those with different abilities announced it is opening its doors in Surprise this Summer.

Benevilla is launching the Benefitness adaptive gym this July with the goal of improving physical efficiencies, mental acuity, strength, balance, and overall wellbeing, according to a press release.

Each member will be individually coached to set wellness goals to improve health.

“We are so excited to be the first location in the Northwest Valley to offer an adaptive gym and Rock Steady Boxing to those in our community facing the challenges of aging and early stages of dementia,” said director of Benefitness, Lorrie Karn, in the press release.

“Our program will help improve the quality of life of our members, improve their strength and balance and improve their ability to perform routine tasks of daily life.”

Benevilla learned through surveys that many older adults either did not know how to properly work out, did not have access to equipment or did not receive the right amount of help from staff.

Benefitness will also have a room dedicated for Rock Steady Boxing, a company dedicated to the fight against Parkinson’s.

The gym will include a smoothie and food bar that includes a relaxation space with massage chairs.
